ABSENTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 11, 2022
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present was; Director Claire Jones, Deputy Director Shannon Cole, Election Technician
Jessica Higginbotham and Election Specialist Seth Lemon

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of
Allegiance.

Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from October 4, 2022. Mrs. McCormick moved to approve the
minutes. Ms. Fenderson seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
"You can Vote" representative, Caitlin Metzquer, gave the Board a brief overview and handouts
of the organization. Ms. Metzguer clarified her role with assisting incarcerated citizens with
registering to vote and requesting absentee ballots. Ms. Metzuer stated that "You can vote"
representatives do not return to assist with voting or witnessing ballots once the voter receives
them. Ms. Fenderson asked Mrs. Jones to see about getting a representative from the detention
center to attend the next Board meeting to clarify their process and chain of custody once ballots
are received at the center.
The Board reviewed the absentee envelopes and absentee list. Mr. Bell moved to approve the list.
Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board reviewed the military and overseas ballots duplicated by the bipartisan team per the
duplication policy.
The Board verified the beginning count on the absentee DS200 was 161. The Board ran the 71
approve ballots through the DS200. The Board verified the final number was 232 and turned the
DS200 off.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Bell moved to adjourn. Mr. Coker seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 6:01 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an absentee meeting on October 18, 2022 at 5:00 pm.
