REGULAR AND ABSENTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 4, 2022
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present was; Director Claire Jones, Deputy Director Shannon Cole and Election Specialist
Seth Lemon

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:01 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of
Allegiance.

Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from September 2, 2022. Mr. Coker moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones updated the Board of the Following topics
• Meeting with Wayne Coats
o Conduct at Voting Sites
o Mutual Aide with Towns
o SRO's will be first to assist at schools
• MAT and Voting at Jails
o MAT cannot assist
o U can vote- Caitlin Metzger
■ Ms. Fenderson and/or Mrs. Jones will reach out for clarification of their
process with absentees
• Election Site Emergency Plans
• Calendar
Mr. Bell informed the Board that he reached out to the WCKB and WUAW radio stations for
election advertising. Both have free and pay options. Mrs. Jones stated she would follow up with
the stations and utilize the free options first. Mr. Bell also suggested organizing Election
Advisory Boards at the schools that the students would manage.
The Board reviewed the absentee envelopes and absentee list. Mrs. McCormick moved to
approve the list. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board reviewed the military and overseas ballots that a bipartisan team duplicated per the
duplication policy.
The Board opened the absentee DS200, verified the beginning count was zero and signed the
tapes. The Board ran the 161 approve ballots through the DS200. The Board verified the final
number was 161 and turned the DS200 off.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Bell moved to adjourn. Mr. Coker seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 6:47 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an absentee meeting on October 11, 2022 at 5:00 pm.
