ELECTION DAY ABSENTEE MEETING
MAY 17, 2022
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick, James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones and Deputy Director Shannon Cole

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:08 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of
Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from May 16, 2022. Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes.
Mrs. Fenderson seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones presented to the Board an election update with voter numbers. As of 4:00pm, 4,914
people have voted at the Election Day sites.
The Board reviewed the One -stop application and a blank ballot for Fredrick Robinson, his ballot
was inserted blank into the DS200 by an election official. The Election official had Mr.
Robinson vote a provisional ballot. Mrs. McCormick moved to disapprove the One -stop
application and count the provisional ballot. Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones submitted documentation to the Board to challenge the absentee ballot of Stephen
Arnold. After his absentee ballot was approved, Mr. Arnold appeared on the State Felony list.
Mrs. Jones reach out to the State Board of Elections and was informed the County Board would
need to challenge the ballot. After some discussion, Mrs. McCormick moved to challenge the
ballot. Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent. Mrs. Jones will notify Mr. Arnold by
certified mail and the Challenge hearing will be at Canvass on May 27.
The Board opened the DS200s for all one -stop sites and absentee by mail. After verifying the
beginning count on each machine, the DS200s were closed and the results were printed. All
Board members signed the tapes and verified the absentee abstracts. Results will be release at
7:30pm.
Mrs. Jones reminded the Board of the following dates:
• Sample Hand -Eye count May 19 at 9:00am
• Absentee/Provisional meeting May 26 at 5:00pm
• Canvas May 27 at 11:00am
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mr. Bell seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 6:27.
The next meeting of the Board will be an absentee/provisional meeting on May 26, 2022 at 5:00
pm.
