ABSENTEE MEETING MINUTES
October 11, 2005
5:00 p.m.
Present were William Randall, Chairman and Walter Massey, Member. Secretary
Tew was unable to attend.
Also present was Sherre Toler, Director,
Mr. Randall called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
New Business:
The Board reviewed the absentee ballots for Erwin. Mr. Massey moved to
approve OS-12 through OS-14 (inclusive). Mr. Randall seconded. Approved without
dissent.
Mr. Massey moved to approve CN-1 in Erwin. Mr. Randall seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Mr. Massey moved to approve CIV-1 in Lillington. Mr. Randall seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Ms. Toler advised the Board that she had to go to Erwin several times to address
allegations of electioneering. She indicated that she spoke to a group with one
representative from each campaign on the far side of the building away from the polling
place and advised that the boundaries were clearly marked and should not be breached..
Ms. Toler advised there were not any other problems noted throughout the day.
The Board ran the mail -in absentee ballot into the machine. The tapes and results
were printed and write-ins tallied. The board signed the tapes and tally sheets and
advised the Director to withhold the results from the public until 7:30 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be October 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Massey moved to adjourn. Mr. Randall seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
