REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 4, 2022
5:30 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick, James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones and Election Technician Jessica Higginbotham

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:30 am with a moment of silence.

Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from December 7, 2021. After some discussion, Mr. Bell
moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board presented a plaque of appreciation to Claudette Williams for her role as Deputy
Director for 20+ years.
The Board discussed posting their minutes on the Harnett County Board of Elections Website.
Mr. Bell moved to post the minutes to the website using a 2 year rotation. Mr. Coker seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones updated the Board on the following topics:
• Rules concerning felons
o Updated information on County website
• Updated calendar
• State Board of Elections Conference
o Will register Board members as individuals
The Board discussed the job description for the Elections Director position. Ms. Fenderson
moved to adopt the sample job description from the State Board of Elections with the discussed
amendments. Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board discussed the job description for the Deputy Director position. The sample job
description from the State Board of Elections was very general and Mr. Bell moved for the
Chairman and Elections Director to work on a better version together. Mr. Coker seconded.
Approved without dissent. Mr. Bell then moved to schedule a meeting on January 19, 2022 at
5:30pm to discuss job descriptions. Mr. Coker seconded. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Ms. Fenderson seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a work session meeting to discuss job descriptions on
January 19, 2022 at 5:30 pm.
