ABSENTEE MEETING
APRIL 19, 2022
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick, James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones, Deputy Director Shannon Cole and Election
Technician Jessica Higginbotham
Also present: See sign in sheet
Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of
Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from April 12, 2022. Mrs. McCormick moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Coker seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones introduced the new Deputy Director, Ms. Cole to the Board.
The Board reviewed the absentee list, attached hereto. Mr. Coker moved to approve the list. Mr.
Bell seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board verified the beginning count on the DS200 was five. Mrs. Fenderson ran the 10
approve ballots through the DS200. The Board verified the final number was 15 and Mrs.
Higginbotham turned the DS200 off.
Mr. Currin updated the Board on his effort to reach out to the Harnett County Schools
concerning getting registration information to high school students. Mr. Bell expressed interest in
assisting Mr. Currin at the schools. Ms. Fenderson stated that Mr. Currin and Mr. Bell could
work out the details together.
Mr. Bell moved to enter closed session per GS 143-318.11 (a)6, to hear or investigate a
complaint, charge or grievance by or against an employee. Mr. Coker seconded. Approved
without dissent. The Board went into closed session at 5:29 pm.
Mr. Coker moved to return to open session. Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent. The
Board returned to open session at 7:04 pm. Ms. Fenderson stated that the Board will resume the
discussion during the Board's meeting on May 3.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Bell moved to adjourn. Mr. Currin seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an absentee meeting on April 26, 2022 at 5:00 pm.
