ABSENTEE AND REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 5, 2021
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Betsy
McCormick, James Currin and Lewis Bell
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones and Deputy Director Claudette Williams
Also present: See sign in sheet
Mrs. Jones called the meeting to order at 5:17 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from September 7, 2021. Mr. Bell moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones asked the Board if they wished to discuss their method for opening their meetings due
- . to public comment concerning the Pledge of Allegiance. After some discussion no motion was
made.
Mrs. Jones reported to the Board:
• Absentee Ballots
0 10 requested and delivered
o Zero were returned
Municipal Election Updates
o L&A testing completed September 24
o Mock Election completed September 30
o Election worker trainings complete
■ New workers given option to work early voting for experience
o Voter Registration deadline October 8 for Angier, Coats and Lillington Election
Mrs. Jones stated a need to discuss personnel concerns. Mr. Currin moved to go into closed
session. Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent. The Board went into closed session at
5:36 pm.
Mr. Currin moved to go back into open session. Mr. Coker seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board went back into open session at 6:17 pm. No action was taken as a result of closed
session.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Bell moved to adjourn. Mrs. McCormick seconded. The
meeting was adj ourned at 6:18 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an Absentee meeting on October 12, 2021 at 5:00 pm.
