EMERGENCY MEETING
FEBRUARY 20, 2020
1:30 P.M.
Present were; Board Chair Tony Spears, Members: Lin Coker, Steve Blackburn, Betsy
McCormick and James Currin
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones, Deputy Director Claudette Williams and Candidate
Suzanne Matthews
Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 1:34pm with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Business:
The Board discussed the incoming weather and possible snow and overnight freezing of
roadways. The Board expressed concern for voters and elections workers driving to and from the
polling sites. After some discussion, Mr. Currin moved to close all voting locations at 4:OOpm on
February 20 and to open all voting sites at 12:00 noon on February 21. Mr. Blackburn seconded.
Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mrs. McCormick moved to adjourn. Mr. Currin seconded.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:53 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an absentee meeting on February 25, 2020 at 5:00 pm at
the County Admin Building.
