ABSENTEE AND PRE -ELECTION MEETING
OCTOBER 7, 2019
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Tony Spears, Secretary Joseph Powell, Members: Steve
Blackburn, Betsy McCormick and Lin Coker
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones and Deputy Director Claudette Williams
Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 5:00pm with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from October 1, 2019. Mr. Powell moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Blackburn seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board reviewed the list of absentee ballots, attached hereto. There were nineteen one -stop
voters and zero absentee ballots by mail returned. After some discussion, Mrs. McCormick
moved to approve the absentee list. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board discussed Election Day activities.
The Board addressed upcoming calendar conflicts and confirmed that a majority would be
present at all upcoming election meetings.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Blackburn moved to adjourn. Mrs. McCormick
seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 5:18 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an Absentee and Election Day meeting on October 8,
2019 at 5:00 pm.
