ABSENTEE AND PRE -ELECTION MEETING
_ OCTOBER 29, 2019
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Tony Spears, Secretary Joseph Powell, Members: Steve
Blackburn, Betsy McCormick and Lin Coker
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones and Deputy Director Claudette Williams
Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 5:00pm with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the absentee minutes from October 22, 2019. Mr. Powell moved to approve
the minutes. Mr. Blackburn seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board reviewed the list of absentee ballots, attached hereto. There were 22 one -stop voters
and one absentee ballot by mail returned. After some discussion, Mrs. McCormick moved to
approve the absentee list. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board then moved to the room with the absentee M100. The Board opened the absentee by
mail M100 and verified the beginning number was zero. The Board inserted the one absentee by
mail ballot and verified the final number was one.
Mrs. Jones reported to the Board:
• Today is last day for civilian absentee ballot requests
• One -Stop voting ends Friday, November 1 at 5:00pm
• Early registration for SBOE conference due
With no further business to discuss, Mrs. McCormick moved to adjourn. Mr. Blackburn
seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 5:12 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a Pre-Election/Absentee meeting on November 4, 2019 at
5:00 pm.
