ABSENTEE AND REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 1, 2019
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Tony Spears, Secretary Joseph Powell, Members: Steve
Blackburn, Betsy McCormick and Lin Coker
Also Present were; Director Claire Jones
Also Present: See sign in sheet
Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 5:02pm with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from September 24, 2019. Mr. Blackburn moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Coker seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board reviewed the list of absentee ballots, attached hereto. There were eleven one -stop
voters and one absentee ballot by mail returned. After some discussion, Mr. Powell moved to
approve the absentee list. Mrs. McCormick seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones also reported to the Board:
Erwin Town Manager will have all staff cars moved from parking lot for the 2020
Elections to increase voter parking.
Erwin Town Manager will reserve three parking spots from the police department on
side of building for curbside voting.
Lillington Community Building is not available for 2020 early voting.
The Board then moved to the room with the absentee M100. The Board checked the absentee by
mail M100 and verified the beginning number was one. The Board inserted the one absentee by
mail ballot and verified the final number was two.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Powell moved to adjourn. Mr. Coker seconded. The
meeting was adj ourned at 5 :3 3 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be an Absentee and Pre -Election meeting on October 7, 2019
at 5:00 pm.
