CANVASS MEETING
NOVEMBER 15, 2018
r 11:00 A.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Don Schroeder, Vice -Chair Tony Spears, Secretary Steve
Blackburn, Member Joey Powell.
Also present were; Director Claire Jones, Deputy Director Claudette Williams, Election Tech
Jeni Harris, Harnett Republican Chair Carolyn Elmore and Candidate Jason Lemons
Mr. Schroeder called the meeting to order at 11:35 am.
Business:
Mrs. Jones submitted to the Board the precinct audits. Voter history and ballots cast numbers
were off by 4, two Provisionals that were not approved went into the M100 at Anderson Creek
and Coats/Grove. Johnsonville had a machine jam and, according to the numbers, must have re-
ran two ballots through the m100 that were already counted. No major issues affected any
results from any precinct. The mandatory random hand -eye count was performed on Thursday
November 8, by a bi-partisan team. The hand count matched the machine count exactly. No
protests or issues were pending that could delay Canvass.
The Board reviewed the Canvass reports. After some discussion Mr. Powell moved to approve
Canvass. Mr. Blackburn seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mr. Spears commented that he would like to address a few points at a future meeting, such as,
the curbside buffer zone, Provisionals and precinct workers.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Powell seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 12:04 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a Regular meeting on December 4 at 4:00 pm.
