REGULAR MEETING
JULY 17, 2018
12:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Tony Spears, Vice -Chair Joseph Powell, Secretary Steve
Blackburn, Member Don Schroeder, Director Claire Jones and Deputy Claudette Williams

Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 12:00pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from June 5, 2018. Mr. Powell moved to approve the minutes.
Mr. Blackburn seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Per NCGS 163A-767, The Board's first priority was to organize. Mr. Spears moved to nominate
Mr. Schroeder as the Chairman. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent. Mr. Blackburn
moved to nominate Mr. Spears as Vice -Chair. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mr. Powell moved to nominate Mr. Blackburn as Secretary. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved
without dissent.
The Board discussed the One -Stop plan for the November General election, attached hereto.
After discussion of the locations to open, Mr. Schroeder moved to open the office and two
satellite locations, Erwin community building and Western Harnett High School. Mr. Powell
seconded. Approved without dissent. The Board then discussed weekend hours. Mr. Powell
moved to approve the hours listed. Mr. Blackburn seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones reported to the Board:
Board invited to Commissioner Work session August 14 at 9:00 am to discuss financial
needs for General Election.
• SBOE conference August 5-7
The Board discussed a conflict with the next regular meeting. After some discussion, Mr.
Schroeder moved to change the August 71h regular meeting to August 14 at 4:00pm. Mr. Spears
seconded. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Blackburn moved to adjourn. Mr. Spears seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 1:00 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a regular meeting on August 14, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
