REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 13, 2018
4:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman James Currin, Board Secretary Tony Spears, Board Member
Joseph Powell and Director Claire Jones
Also present was; Jean Sivoli, Democratic Chair and Steve Blackburn
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from December 12, 2017 and January 2, 2018 Mr. Spears
moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones updated the Board on various office activities:
• SBOE conference on January 29 and 30
• Kay Capps passed her election certification exam on January 31
• Filing from February 12 until February 28
• Possible need to move Neills Creek polling place
• Redistricting House districts
• Office relocating possible when County builds new governmental complex
• Precinct Worker training April 3, 5, 9 and 10
The Board discussed the 2018-2019 fiscal budget. Mrs. Jones stated the only elections to be
budgeted are a possible second primary and the November general election. The Board discussed
the need to adjust the Board pay in light of additional duties requiring them to miss work. After
some discussion Mr. Spears moved to increase pay by $50. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved
without dissent.
Mrs. Jones submitted an election calendar for the Board to review. After some discussion Mr.
Spears moved to combine the May 1 Regular meeting and Absentee meeting and to meet at
5:00pm. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent. Mr. Spears moved to hold a
Provisional/Absentee meeting on May 17 at 5:00pm. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without
dissent.
