ELECTION DAY ABSENTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 10, 2017
5:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman James Currin, Board Secretary Tony Spears, Board Member
Joseph Powell and Director Claire Jones
Also present were; State Board of Elections Employee, Erika McCormick, Lee County Director
Parker Holland, Democratic Chair, Jean Sivoli and Steve Blackburn
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
Business:
There were no additional absentee ballots to approve
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that the State Board of Elections sent out an email stating the
One -stop results cannot be merged into the Election Day results to protect voter privacy. The
general statutes does not grant the Board that ability until the 30 day sort. GS.163-132.5G
The Board closed the One -stop M 100 and signed the tapes and filled out the Absentee Abstract.
The results will be released at 7:30pm.
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that the state mandated hand/eye count will be conducted on
Thursday October 12 at 8:30 am.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Powell seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be the Absentee/Provisional meeting on October 16, 2017 at
10:30 am.
