REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 7, 2017
4:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman James Currin, Board Secretary Tony Spears and Director Claire
Jones
Also present were Jean Sivoli, Democratic Chair and Lewis Bell
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from January 3, 2017. Mr. Spears moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs, Jones updated the Board of current legislation that affected the Board. As of January 51h, an
injunction was granted putting the merger between the SBOE and State Ethics Commission on
hold and as of January 1 Ot", the Supreme Court has stayed the redistricting and special elections
for 2017.
The Board discussed poll worker issues and poll worker training.
Mrs. Jones stated that she was beginning the budget process and will submit a final draft for the
Board to vote on at its March regular meeting.
Mrs. Jones stated that a closed session was need to discuss Personnel. Mr. Spears moved to go
into closed session for that purpose. Mr. Currin seconded. The Board went into closed session at
4:53 pm
Mr. Spears moved to return to open session. Mr. Currin seconded. The Board returned to open
session at 5:13 pm. No action resulted from closed session.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Currin seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:14 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a regular meeting on March 7, 2017 at 4:00 pm.
