ABSENTEE MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 22, 2016
10:30 A.M.
Present were Board Members; James Currin, Tony Spears, Joseph Powell, Director Claire Jones
and Deputy Director Claudette Williams.
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 10:38 am.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from March 12, 2016. Mr. Powell moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board reviewed the list of Absentee Voters, attached hereto. 39 ballots are to be approved
and one ballot was to be subtracted. A voter, James M. Hinson Sr. returned his absentee ballot
and it was received on Election Day and counted with the absentee ballots on Election Day,
however, he was not listed on the poll book as having voted and voted curbside at the polls. Mrs.
Jones was not aware of whether or not he called to check on the status of the absentee ballot, but
if he did it would have shown that it was not received until after 1:00pm. After some discussion
Mr. Spears moved to approve the absentee list. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board opened the M100 for Absentee by mail ballots and processed 38 of the 39 total
ballots. One of the ballots was emailed by a military voter and was hand counted by the Board
and added to the tapes. The Absentee ballot for Mr. Hinson was pulled and subtracted from the
tapes. The results will be combined with Election Day absentees and released with Canvass.
With no other business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Powell seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 11:00 pm.
The next Board meeting will be Canvass immediately following at 11:00 am.
