REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 2, 2016
4:00 P.M.
Present were; Board Chairman James Currin, Board Secretary Tony Spears, Board Member
Joseph Powell and Director Claire Jones
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from July 5, 2016. Mr. Powell moved to approve the minutes.
Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones presented to the Board a calendar with important dates to remember for the upcoming
election. After reviewing the calendar, Mr. Spears moved to combine the regular and absentee
meeting on November 1 st at 5:00pm. Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent. Due to
poll worker training, Mr. Powell moved to change the Regular meeting on October 3rd from
4:00pm to 5:00pm. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that Roger Farina withdrew from the Soil and Water contest. He
was appointed to the Board of Education.
Mrs. Jones submitted to the Board State Board Memo 2016-11. Mrs. Jones stated options the
Board could consider for creating a new one -stop plan for the General Election. After some
discussion the Board decided to contemplate on the options and meet on the subject at the next
meeting.
Per the Board request, Mrs. Jones prepared an invoice outlining a new pay scale for poll workers
by job description. Assistants would get a $10 increase, Judges would receive a $15 increase.
Chief Judges would receive a $20 increase and the payment for picking up supplies would go up
from $35 to $40. After some discussion Mr. Powell moved to approve the pay scale as
recommended. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Powell seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 4:34 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be the regular meeting, September 6, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
