ABSENTEE MEETING
SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
5:00 PM
Present were Board Members; James Currin, Tony Spears, Joseph Powell and Director Claire
Jones.
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from September 1, 2015. Mr. Powell moved to approve the
minutes. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board reviewed the absentee list, attached hereto. Seven ballots were mailed and to date
only one has been returned. Mr. Spears moved to approve the absentee list. Mr. Powell seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that the machine testing went well. The State Board had a partial
mock election on September 10 and the county office was able to submit results as required. The
State will hold another mock election on September 23 at 10:00 am.
,—� The State Board of Elections will hear the Candidate Challenge Appeal concerning the Dunn
' Mayor race, on Friday, September 18 at 10:00am. Mrs. Jones stated that she and, County Staff
Attorney, Monica Jackson would attend the hearing. All Board members replied that they would
try to attend as well.
The Board Members reviewed a schedule of all important upcoming dates concerning the
October and November elections. Mrs. Jones noted that on October 13 the Board has an absentee
meeting at 10:30 am and 5:00 pm. After some discussion Mr. Powell moved to combine the two
meetings and meet at 10:30 am on October 13. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Spears moved to adjourn. Mr. Powell seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:14 pm.
The next meeting will be an Absentee Board meeting on September 22, 2015 at 5:00 pm,
followed by precinct worker training at 6:00 pm at the Lillington Community Building.
