REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 2, 2015
4:00 P.M.
Present were Board Members; James Currin, Tony Spears, Joseph Powell and Director Claire
Jones.
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from May 5, 2015. Mr. Spears moved to approve the minutes.
Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that Paula Stewart was appointed as the new Harnett County
Deputy Manager. The budget process is going normally and the Board of Commissioners are
having their public hearing on the June 15, 2015 at 7:00pm.
Mrs. Jones relayed to the Board that an email was sent to both party chairpersons about the State
Political Party recommendation of Board members to the State Board of Elections by June 15.
The email also informed the Chairpersons of the July regular meeting on July 21, the Third
Tuesday per GS 163-30, so the Board Members can be sworn into office.
Mrs. Jones is working on the One -Stop implementation plan and will submit it to the Board at
the meeting on July 21. Typically during Municipal Elections, One -stop is only held in the office
with no additional locations. This may change if a possible statewide bond referendum is added
to this year's November Election.
Mr. Spears noted that a person that previously worked as a Student Election Assistant while in
high school, was seen working actively with the party. This showed the positive affect of having
students assist with elections.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Powell moved to adjourn. Mr. Spears seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 4:30 pm.
The next board meeting will be a regular meeting on July 21, 2015 at 12:00 pm.
