REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 3, 2013
Present were: Chairman James Currin, Secretary Tony Spears, Member Joseph Powell and
Director Claire Jones.
Also present was former Board Member, Louise Taylor
Mr. Currin called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from November 12, 2013, 11:00 am meeting. Mr. Powell
moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Spears seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mrs. Jones informed the Board that Jessica Anderson failed to finish her probationary period.
The job opening for an Administrative Support Specialist will be posted on the Harnett County
website soon. Mr. Currin asked that the Board review the interview questions at the next Board
meeting.
The Election Conference will be December 16 and 17 in Durham. Mrs. Jones and Ms. Williams
will be attending and the Board is invited to attend. Mr. Spears stated he would be able to attend.
The Board reviewed and read a resolution of appreciation prepared by Mrs. Jones for the former
Board members, Walter Massey and Louise Taylor. Mr. Spears moved to approve the resolution.
Mr. Powell seconded. Approved without dissent. Ms. Taylor came forward and accepted her
award. Mrs. Jones will contact Mr. Massey to receive his.
With no other business to discuss Mr. Powell moved to Adjourn. Mr. Spears seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 4:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Board is a regular meeting on January 7, 2014 4:00 pm.

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION fax: 910-893-4655
THAT WHEREAS, the Harnett County Board of Elections is entrusted to conduct
elections in a fair and impartial manner pursuant to NC General Statues 163; and,
WHEREAS, after preparing for elections, reviewing absentee ballots and working long
hours ensuring the accuracy of the voting records; and,
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Board of Elections members have distinguished
themselves as an excellent and cooperative working Board; and,
r WHEREAS, the Board has succeeded in making the election process open, free and
unbiased for its citizens,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Harnett County Board of Elections,
that former Board Members, Walter Massey and Louise Taylor are hereby commended
for their dedicated work in fulfilling their duties in ensuring the elections were held in an
exemplary manner.
