MEETING MINUTES
March 15, 2013
3:00 P.M.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin, Member Louise Taylor and
Interim Director Claire Jones.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from 2-12-13, 02-21-13 and 2-26-13. Mrs. Taylor moved to
approve the minutes. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
The Board and Mrs. Jones discussed the public forums concerning the Central Harnett Precinct
split. Mrs. Jones informed the Board that a name for the new precinct was needed. The Board
wanted something that would not be confusing to voters since they cannot go back to the original
names. The names that resulted were Central Harnett Lillington and Central Harnett Neills
Creek. Mrs. Taylor moved to approve the names. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without
dissent.
The Board then discussed the public hearing concerning the moving of the polling place for the
Boone Trail precinct. Mrs. Jones checked with the school and their schedule and suggested
having the hearing on March 12, 2013 at 7:00 at the New Boone Trail School Gym. Mr. Currin
moved to have the hearing on that date at the school. Mrs. Taylor seconded. Approved without
dissent.
Mrs. Jones then presented the budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year to the Board. Mrs. Jones
informed the Board that we are again asking for money for the laptops to use as electronic poll
books. Mrs. Taylor moved to approve the budget. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without
dissent.
Mr. Currin moved to go into closed session to discuss personnel issues. Mrs. Taylor seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Mr. Massey, Mr. Currin, Mrs. Taylor went into closed session at 3:30 pm until 4:00 pm. Mrs.
Taylor moved to exit the closed session. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. No
action was taken as a result of the closed session.
The next meeting of the Board will be a special meeting, March 12, 2013, at 7:00pm, at the new
Boone Trail Elementary School Gym for the public hearing.
Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 pm.
