MEETING MINUTES
February 12, 2013
11:30 A.M.
Present were Director Ted Halstead, Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and
Member Louise Taylor.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes from 1-8-13. Ms. Taylor moved to approve the minutes. Mr.
Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Mr. Halstead discussed with the board information pertaining to the upcoming hearings about the
precinct changes for Central Harnett. The first public meeting will be at the Lillington
community building February 21, 2013 from 7:OOpm until 8:OOpm. The second meeting will be
at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center February 26, 2013 from 7:OOpm until 8:OOpm.
Mr. Halstead invited Claire Jones and Claudette Williams to the meeting. After some discussion
Mr. Halstead submitted his letter of resignation citing health reasons, effective at the end of the
day. Mr. Currin moved to accept Mr. Halstead's resignation. Ms. Taylor seconded. Approved
r. without dissent.
Mr. Currin moved to go into closed session to discuss personnel issues. Mrs. Taylor seconded.
Approved without dissent.
Mr. Massey, Mr. Currin, Mrs. Taylor went into closed session at 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Currin moved to exit the closed Mrs. Taylor seconded. Approved without dissent. After the
closed session discussions Ms. Taylor moved to appoint Claire Jones as the interim Director of
Elections. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
The next meeting of the Board will be a special meeting, February 18, 2013, at 2:OOpm, At the
HR office to discuss personnel issues.
Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 1:17 p.m.
