MEETING MINUTES
May 8, 2012
2:00 p.m.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Ted Halstead, Elections Director.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
Business:
Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes from the May 1 meeting. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The
motion was approved unanimously.
Mr. Massey, Mr. Currin and Mrs. Taylor reviewed and approved the receipt of all absentee
ballots to date.
Mr. Halstead reported that he had confirmed buses at the Coats Elementary School would be
parked elsewhere on the day of the primary.
Mr. Halstead reported that additional directional signs had been provided for polling places.
Mr. Halstead reported that he had hand -delivered notices to polling places replaced since 2010 to
post directing voters to their new polling place, as well as a map with directions to post and
handouts with the same information to give to voters.
Mrs. Taylor suggested that absentee reports posted in polling places should be made single-
space, so they would be easier to post at polling places. Mr. Halstead agreed to do so.
Mr. Currin recommended that a separate training session be conducted for judges and chief
judges. Mr. Halstead explained that he had already planned to do so prior to the general election
in November.
Mr. Currin recommended that we seek input from judges and chief judges on the execution of
the May 8 primary, as well as possible improvements.
Mr. Halstead reported that he had received a complaint regarding Runner Yolanda Massey that
he had reviewed, and concluded was unfounded.
The next meeting of the Board will be on May 8, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
