MEETING MINUTES
June 26, 2012
5:00 p.m.
Present were C y, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Ted Halstead, Elections Director.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 5:OOpm.
Business:
Mr. Halstead presented the absentee ballots received to date for the Board's review. Mr. Currin
moved to approve the absentee ballots received. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The motion was
approved unanimously.
Mr. Halstead reported that it had not been possible to appeal the decision to reject funding to
lease new laptops as electronic poll books. Mr. Halstead plans, however, to include this request
in the coming year's budget.
Mr. Halstead reported a notice had been published in The Daily Record advising the public that
the next meeting of the Board will be on July 10, 2012, at 5 p.m.
Ms. Taylor noted that the Barbecue Precinct has grown substantially in size, to the point where
lines were long in the May 2012 primary. Ms. Taylor suggested that it might be necessary in the
future to consider splitting the precinct. Mr. Massey agreed that it might be, but pointed out that
the long lead times needed for such a change would make it impossible to do in advance of this
year's Presidential election. In the meantime, Mr. Halstead noted that he planned to increase the
number of poll workers assigned to Barbecue Precinct.
Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
The next meeting of the Board will be on July 10, 2012, at 5 p.m.
