REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
January 12, 2010
3:00 P.M.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Tom Woerner of the Harnett County News and Sherre Toler, Director.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
Minutes:
Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes of December 1, 2009, January 4, 2010 and January 5,
2010. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Ms. Toler presented a proposed resolution requesting that the polling places in Johnsonville and
Boone Trail be moved. The resolution also proposed consolidating Neills Creek and Lillington
precincts. After discussion, Ms. Taylor moved to relocate the polling place in Johnsonville from
the fire department to the Johnsonville Elementary School. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved
without dissent. Mr. Currin moved to relocate the polling place in Boone Trail from the fire
department to the Boone Trail Elementary School. Ms. Taylor seconded. Approved without
dissent. Ms. Taylor moved to consolidate Neills Creek and Lillington precincts with the new
voting place to be the Common's Area of the Governmental Complex in Lillington. Mr. Massey
seconded. Ms. Taylor and Mr. Massey voted in favor of the motion. Mr. Currin voted against
the motion. The motion carried. Ms. Toler was directed to proceed with obtaining approval
from the State Board of Elections and the Department of Justice.
Ms. Toler presented the Board with a list of the filing fees and dates of the filing period as well
as a proposed schedule of upcoming dates for the primary season.
The next meeting of the Board will be its regular meeting on February 2, 2010.
Ms. Taylor moved to adjourn. Mr. Currin seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.

RESOLUTION REGARDING PRECINCT CONSOLIDATION, RENAMING
AND RENUMBERING OF PRECINCTS
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Board of Elections conducted public meetings on
January 4, 2010 and January 5, 2010, for the purpose of obtaining public comment on
proposed precinct changes; and,
WHEREAS, after reviewing possible changes and considering public comment, the
Harnett County Board of Elections at a duly advertised, public meeting on January 12,
2010, approved the following changes to precinct names and/or precinct numbers and/or
polling place changes where applicable; and,
Precinct 16 — Johnsonville — The polling place is to be changed from the Spout
Springs Fire Department to the Johnsonville Primary School located at 18495 NC 27
W., Cameron, (Total Voters — 4604)
Precinct 23 - Boone Trail — The polling place is to be changed from the Boone Trail
Fire Department to the Boone Trail Elementary School located at 8500 Old US 421,
Lillington, NC (Total Voters 4688)
Precinct 30 — Central Harnett Precinct (formerly Lillington and Neill's Creek
Precincts). These precincts are to be merged with voting to be held at the Commons
Area, Governmental Complex, Lillington, NC (Total Voters 5848)
WHEREAS, all polling locations are ADA compliant.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Harnett County Board of Elections,
that these changes shall be effective immediately upon approval by the United States
Department of Justice and the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
