HomeMy WebLinkAboutHCBOE Board Meeting Minutes - February 2, 2010 - Regular MeetingHARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS REGULAR MEETING MINUTES February 2, 2010 3:00 P.M. Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor. Also present was Sherre Toler, Director. Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Business: Ms. Toler advised the Board that the Lee County Board of Elections had made an informal request to utilize laptops and printers for their primary. The Board expressed support for this request but advised Ms. Toler to consult the county attorney to ensure compliance with all county regulations and to draft a Memorandum of Understanding. Ms. Toler presented the proposed budget. After discussion, Ms. Taylor moved to approve the budget. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. Ms. Toler requested the Board approve dates and times of one -stop voting. Ms. Toler recommended that the additional one -stop sites, in addition to the office, be open on Saturday April 24, 2010 and Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ms. Taylor moved to approve those dates and times. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. Ms. Toler advised that she sent the information to the State Board on January 13, 2010 for approval of our proposed polling place changes. As of this date, she has not yet heard from them and cannot proceed with the Department of Justice submission until she receives State Board approval. Mr. Massey recommended that we have a meeting with the county attorney simply in order to get to know each other and develop a relationship prior to needing his/her services. Ms. Toler was directed to arrange a suitable time. The next meeting of the Board will be its regular meeting on March 2, 1010 at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Ms. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m. Approved by: Walter Massey, Chairman Currin, Taylor, Member Poll worker training will be held on April 12, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting of the Board will be its absentee meeting on April 13, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. -- Mr. Currin moved to adjourn.
