ABSENTEE MEETING MINUTES
October 20, 2009
5:00 P.M.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Sherre Toler, Director.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes of October 13, 2009. Ms. Taylor moved to approve. Mr.
Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
New Business:
Ms. Toler presented the Board with the absentee poll book, attached hereto and incorporated
herein by this reference. Ms. Taylor moved to approve. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved
without dissent.
Ms. Toler advised the Board that the finance department informed her that poll workers now had
to be paid as employees. As a result, a representative from Human Resources would be present
at the training to gather the required information and signatures necessary to enter the poll
worker in the payroll system. Ms. Toler and the Board expressed concern that this was a complex
process that might deter some workers from serving.
Ms. Taylor moved to adjourn to the poll worker training session. Mr. Currin seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
The next meeting of the board will be an absentee meeting at 5:00 p.m. on October 27, 2009
followed by a poll worker training session from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Board of Election's
Office.
