08041952153 1 August 4th. 1952 The Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session on Monday, August 4th, 1952, at 1O00 A. M. with L. A. Tart, Chariman, H. S. Holloway, R. L. Pate, B. P. Ingram and worth Lee Byrd present. Also present were W. A. Johnson, County Attorney, H. D. Carson, County Auditor, and Inez Harrington, Clerk to Board. The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Acting Clerk Juperior Court, was approved and ordered filed. The report of D. P. Ray, Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered filed. The report of B. F. Sellers, Electrical Inspector, was approved and ordered filed. It is ordered that A. C. Lamm, 305 N. Ellis St. Dunn, N. C. be released of 1951 taxes in personal property in the amount of $16.09, by reason of the fact that he did not reside in harnett County on January 1st. 1951, and property was erronously listed in Harnett County. Worth Lee Byrd moved, seconded by Holloway, thatthe Board advertise for bids for the furnishing and installing of two -way system, including central station at the courthouse in Lillington rith a unit in the jail and three automdbile units and two walkie- talkie units. Motion carried. The following road petitions were ordered filed: 1. To treat with an all- weather surface that certain road in Anderson Creek Township, Harnett County, North Carolina, leading off of N. C. Highway No. 210, at Parker's Service Station and running thence in a southeasterly d irection to Blalock's Store, a distance of 3.1 miles. 2. To road grade and maintain that certain road in Duke 'Township which runs from U. S. Highway No. 421, beginning at Bill's Place known as the old Dunn - Erwin Road a distance of 230 yards. 3. That certain road in Anderson Creek Township which runs from the Layton Road to the Pendergrass Road and known as the Thompson Road a distance of 3.7 miles, to be black topped. 4. 2o make an all- weather road of that certain road in Lillington Township which runs from Baptist 1'1oore's Store in Shawtown to the Ft. Bragg Road at the old Mack 'Johnson home, and known as the old Murchison hoad, a distance of 3/4 miles. 5. To open a County road in Black River township on Highway No. 210, one and three fourths miles East of Angier to the first road on the left, past Dallas Young's home to a highway, a distance of 1 -3/10 miles. 6. To make an all- weather road that road in Anderson's Creek Township which runs from the Wire road near Reeves Bridge to Lucas Store and is known as the Thornwall Road a distance of 3 miles.
