APRIL 2 1951
The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session on Monday,
April 2, 1951 with C.G.Fields, Vice Chairman, B.P. Ingram, Worth Lee Byrd and R. L.
Pate present. Chairman L.A. Tart being absent on account of illness, present were
the County attorney and Clerk to the Board.
The report of Robert B.Morgan, C. S.,C., was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of D P Ray,Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and
ordered filed.
Upon motion of Commissioner Ingram, seconded by Commissioner Byrd the County
was authorized to sell it's interest in 2 lots in Dunn, the same being the property
acquired under Tax Foreclosure Judgment #A -903 to Cater Ham for $155.24 and Vice
Chairman is authorized to execute deed, attested by Clerk conveying the County's
interest in said lots to Cater Ham upon receipt of $155.24.
Worth Lee Byrd Moved seconded by B. P. Ingram that Geo. Thomas, col., Black
River Township be allowed an incr'ase to $25.00 per month up to July 1st on account
of physical disability. Motion carried.
Worth L. Byrd, Commissioner moved seconded by B. P. Ingram that George Baker,
Fuquay #1 be relieved of poll tax permanently on account of disability suffered
during War #II. He being a World War Veteran.
The following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to State
Highway & Public Works Commission:
(1) Road leading south from A. L. Seawall home to the intersection of
Highway running west from Olivia. (Petition given to Mr. W. B. Olive)
(2) 7/10 mile in Barbecue Township by Morris Chapel Church to Lee County
Line. (Petition given to Mr. A. A. Cameron)
(3) That certain road to be made all weather in Grove Township which runs
from Green Ford Creek to Angier Benson road crossing to H.P. Young's residence
known as Green Ford Church road a distance of 9/10 mile. (Petition mailed to
Geo. S. Coble.)
(4) To take over and maintain that road leading through Wonder Town east of
Erwin and crossing the old Taylor place to Casper Tart's line, a distance of
about 300 yards. One end of the road is now being worked and maintained by the
State, and a new road through the old Taylor place from Highway #421 and inter-
secting with the above mentioned road, a distance of about 200 yards.
Also about 200 feet extention of road leading from Highway #421 at
Shug Avery's place and Antersecting with road leading from Wonder Town to Casper
Tart's line.
Worth Lee Byrd moved seconded by B. P. Ingram that the State take over and
maintain the roads described here:
(1) Road from the junction of U.S. #15A and 210 Highways south of Lillington
city limits running in a southeast direction for a distance of 0.3 mile. This
road will serve as an outlet for 18 families, one store, one church, one beauty
parlor.
(2) Road from U. S. #15A, 1.4 miles north of Chalybeate in a westernly
direction 12 miles to O.C.Whittington's residence. This road will serve as an
outlet for 10 families.
Motion carried.
