The Board of Commissioners met jointly with the Board of Welfare,
Present were Vice - Chairman, Alex Cameron, Commissioners Byrd and Barefoot.
Also present were the County Attorney the Auditor and the Clerk to the
Board. Chairman L. A. Tart and Commissioner Warren were absent on account
of illness.
Dr. Blackmon and Gattis Thomas were present for the Welfare Board
and Miss Hall, Public Welfare Director, was present.
Miss Hall presented the Welfare Budget for study.
Dr. Blackmon moved seconded by Commissioner Byrd that Welfare Budget be
acoepted as presented.
Motion c arried.
Gattis Thomas moved seconded by Commissioner Byrd that the Clerical
worker in the Welfare Department be given 60 days notice of discharge.
Motion carried.
Tommy Sansom presented the budget for the Civil Defense Agency and
Harnett County's Operational Survival plan. Commissioner Byrd moved,
seconded by Commissioner Barefoot, that the budget as presented be accepted.
Motion c arried.
Motion by Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot that the
towns in the county may purchase surplus property from the Government in the
name of Harnett County; that the various towns are to pay the money into the
county at which titre and -not before the county obligates itself to pay the
government for all purchases made .
Motion carried.
The Board recessed to reconvene on Thursday June 21st. at 7:30 P. M.
