06011959JUNE 1st. 1959. The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, June ls't. 1959,'at 10:00 A. M.,'with all members present; Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor 'and the Clerk to the Board. The Following reports were received and ordered filed: Elizabeth F. Matthews Kyle Harrington D. P. Ray Inez Harrington L. B. McLean Earl H. Wells B H Sellers Roy Godwin Clerk Superior Court Clerk Recorders Court Tax Collector Register of Deeds Veterans Service Officer Dog Warden County Electrical inspector County Electrical Inspector Commissioner Worth Lee Byrd moved; seconded by Commissioner Cameron, that Alvis Matthews of Upper Little River Township, be refunded the amount of $70.10 on tax valuation of 51000 for years 1954- 55- 56- 57 -58, on account of error in listing. It is ordered that W. G. Webb, Jr. Dunn,be refunded the amount of on 1958 tax on account of error. The following Road Petitions were approved: (1) Drain and pull up that road in Averasboro Twp. which runs from Fair- ground road to Highway 301 north of Dunn known as Canal Drive or Burnett Road a distance of .02 miles. (Petition mailed to A. B. Burnett 1501 N. Ellis Ave. Dunn) (2) To widen and grade that road in Barbecue Twp. which runs from N. C. 27 south known as Tingen Fire Lane a distance of 1.2 miles. (Petition given to Alex Cameron) Upon motion of Commissioner Cameron Robert Morgan was instructed to offer a raine the fund from three to five cents fund.. Motion carried. 10..87 on and seconded by Commissioner Warren, bill in the present General; Assembly to on .a permissive basis for the extension Upon motion of Commissioner Cameron and seconded by Commissioner Warren, Senator Morgan was instructed to introduce a bill in the present Legislature providing for a special levy not to exceed 10¢ on the $1001 tax valuation to finance the Sheriffts Department of Harnett County. Motion carried. The Board appointed D. P. Ray, Jr. Tax Collector, for Harnett County for a term of 1 year ending June 1960: The Board appointed Berles Johnson, Tax Supervisor 'or Harnett County or a term of 2 years ending June 1961. The Board appointed David E.. Lassater, Delinquent Tax Collector, or a term of 6 months ending Dec. 31, 1959.
