09211966516 SEPTEMBER 21st. 1966 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in a called session on Wednesday September 21st. at 7:30 P.M., jointly with Harnett aunty Planning Board. All members were present except Commissioner W. J. Cotton, Jr. who was absent. The Clerk to the Board was also present. Chairman Brock called the meeting to order and Commissioner Womble offered the invocation. Casey S. Fowler, Chairman of the Planning Board, introduced Richard Moore, Consulting Engineer of the Moore Gardner & Associates of Asheboro, who presented the proposal of Premiminary studies of the plans for making the maps that will be prepared and used in the development of the survey of the County with their recommendations. Frank Lewis, Assistant Civil Defense Director, gave a report of a meeting in Raleigh concerning the water conservation and the rules and regulations to be requested by the General Assemble. C. P. Stewart, A.S.C. Office, presented a plan whereby the County can purchase a farm which can be developed for recreation facilities for the public with grants from hhe Federal Government. Mr. Stewart also requested funds from the county to be used with the Soil Conservation program in making ponds available on the farms. The meeting recessed.
