06011964216 JUNE lst. 1964 The Board of Commissioners 1964, at 10 :00 A. M. with all Attorney, the Auditor and the met in regular session on Monday June lst. members present. Also present were the'County Clerk to the Board Chairman Alex Cameron, called the meeting to order and introduced Rev. Ray Dickens, Presbyterian Paston of Ephesus Church and Plain View Presbyterian Church, who offered the invocation. - The following reports of the various County Officers were approved and filed: D. Ray, Jr. Elizabeth Matthews Kyle Harrington Inez Harrington Jean Maness B H Sellers Roy Godwin The following Road Petitions Were Tax Collector Clerk Superior Court Clerk Recorders Court Register of Deeds Veterans Service Officer Electrical Inspector Electrical Inspector approved: 1. E. T. Moore, Fuquay Springs, Rt. 2, Edward Johnson, Fuquay Rt. 2 and Melvin Rogers, Fuquay Rt. 1, appeared before the Board and presented the following Road Petition. To Black Top that road known as No. 1415 (Rawls -Oak Ridge Road) in Hector's Creek twp. a distance of 2 -6/10 mile (Petition mailed) 2. To add to the State maintained Road System that street in Lillington described as "D" Street from U. S. 401 to 9th.Street, -9th. St. from "D" St. to "C" Street; and "C" Street, from 9th. Street to property line of Carolite Corporation, in the City of Lillington (Petition given to A. J. White) 3 To pull up and gravel and add to the State System that road which is No. 1742 and No. 1750 and to connect these two roads to Old Highway 421 a distance of .2 miles in Duke twp. (Petition given to Comm. Brock) L. To add to the State Road System those roads known as Anne Street and Road known as Eldridge Drive in Averasboro Twp. a distance of .4,' miles. (Petition mailed) Mrs. A. F. Pope, Dunn, and Mrs, Faison Hicks, Dunn, appeared before-the Board in the interest of Chicora Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and requested a donation of $500.00 or more, additional money to be used by the Chapter to preserve the historical site of the Chicora Cemetery for the burial place of the soldiers who were killed in the battle of Averasboro. Commissioner Byerly moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, that tip, contract to audit the accounts of the various county offices be awarded to John E. Ingraham, C.P.A. for the year beginning July 1, 1963, and ending June 30, 1964, for the sum of $1600.00. Motion carried. Commissioner Brock moved, that Neill McKay Ross, County Attorney, be paid the sum of $450.00 for 9 days of service rendered to the county as legal advisor for the Board of Equalization and Review. The motion failed to parry for the lack of a second The Board of Commissioners will meet Friday, June 5th. at 7:30 P.M. to sit as a Board of Equalization and Review.
