SPECIAL MEETING MAY 27 1971
SPECIAL MEETING The Board was called to a special session on May 27, 1971 with all Board
members present. This meeting was called for the consideration of three
items, as follows:
JURY COMMISSION APPOINTMENT
The following instrument was adopted by motion of Commissioner McLamb,
second by Commissioner Cotton and unanimous vote:
TO: MACK REID HUDSON GREETINGS
Reposing special trust and confidence in your integrity
and fitness, and by virtue of the authority vested in me by
statute, I do by these presents appoint you a MEMBER OF THE
HARNETT COUNTY JYRY COMMISSION for a TERM OF TWO YEARS
commencing June 7, 1971, and do confer upon you, after taking
the oath required by law for your qualification, all of the
rights and powers useful and necessary to the just and proper
discharge of the duties of this office according to law.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name as
Chairman of the Board of Harnett County Commissioners, on
this the 27th day of May, 1971.

The Board desired to set compensation for the members of Jury Commission
at their next regular monthly meeting.
CERTIFICATION TO SOLID WASTE
DISPOSAL GRANT - FHA
BILLY WELLONS
The following certification pertaining to the solid waste disposal grant
application was presented for the pleasure of the Board:
I CERTIFY THE FOLLOWING:
]. Harnett County has a fidelity bond in the
amount of $5,000.00 on H. D. Carson, Jr., County
Auditor and Treasurer.
2. Fire and extended coverage will be placed
on the building and equipment to be purchased and
constructed in the operation of the sanitary land
fill.
3. Liability and property damage, as required
by law, will be placed on the equipment to be
purchased in the operation of the sanitary land
fill.
4. The County of Harnett is not required to
carry workmen's compensation.
5. Harnett County will have its share of the
project cost, which is $47,5 -0.00 in the form of
cash, donations or a combination of these, when
needed to complete the project.

ACTION: Commissioner Ray made a motion to adopt the following resolutio
of certification as drawn, a copy of which to be presented to Mr. Watkin
FHA Director, to comply with requirements issued in connection to the
solid waste disposal grant. Commissioner Cotton seconded the motion and
it carried unanimously.
Mr. Billy Wellons appeared before the Board to request added police pro-
tection in the Anderson Creek area of the county to accomodate the dense
population existing there. No formal action was taken.
