05281970404 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR THE YEAR 1970 April 23, 1970 May 21, 1970 May 28, 1970 The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and review for the first meeting of 1970 on Thursday, April 23, 1970 at 10:00 a.m. in the courthouse in Lillington, North Carolina. All commissioners were present. The meeting was called to order by M. H. Brock, Chairman of the Board. Before entering upon their duties, all members of the Board subscribed to the following oath and filed same with the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. "I, , do solemnly swear that I will faithfully dis- charge my duties as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina, and that I will not allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influenced by a personal political friendship or obligation." Board members taking above oath are as listed: M. H. Brock, W. J. Cotton, Jr., D. P. Ray, Jr., C. E. McLamb, and Gilbert Brown. The following townships were given an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be heard: Averasboro, Duke, Grove, Black River, Neils Creek, Hectors Creek, and Buckhorn. Mrs. Paul E. Griffin appeared before the bord on 1 lot valued $119.00 in Buckhorn Township. Raymond S. Altman appeared before the Board on 1 building valued in Averasboro Township. William E. Brewer appeared before the Board on additional added to residence value $3121.00. Averasboro Township. Brazilla S. Stewart appeared before the Board on 1 residence valued $2,484.00. Averasboro Township. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for taxpayers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review for the second meeting of 1970 on Thursday, May 21, 1970 at 10:00 a.m. in the courthouse, Lillington, North Carolina. All commissioners were present. The following townships were given the privilege of appearing before the Equalization Board: Anderson Creek, Barbecue, Johnsonville, Lilling- ton, Stewarts Creek and Upper Little River. No taxpayer appeared before the Board. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for taxpayers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equali- zation and Review on Thursday, May 28, 1970 for the third and final meeting for the year 1970. All members were present. No taxpayer appeared before the Board. The Board reviewed the property of Mrs. Paul L. Griffin, Raymond S. Altman, William M. Brewer and Brazilla S. Stewart and upon motion by Mr. Cotton, seconded by Mr. McLamb, the values remained the same. The Board of Equalization and Review adjourned for the year 1970 after ample time was given for taxpayers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board.
