12051967106 December 5, 1967 Mr. M. H. Brock, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Mr. Dougald McRae, Chairman of the Board of Elections met on December 5th to canvass the votes of the School Bond election of December 2, 1967. This was in accordance with the will of the Board of Commissioners as recorded in the minutes of December Li, 1967. STATEMENT OF RESULT of SPECIAL BOND ELECTION held in the COUNTY OF HARNETT, NORTH CAROLINA on December 2, 1967 At a special bond election held through the County of Harnett, North Carolina, on December 2, 1967, 14,300 voters were registered and qualified to vote. At said election 3,179 votes were cast for the approval of the order authorizing the County of Harnett to contract a debt and in evidence thereof to issue not exceeding $5,000,000 School Building Bonds of the County of Harnett for the purpose of providing funds, with any other funds available for such purpose, for erecting additional school buildings and other school plant facilities, remodeling, enlarging and reconstructing existing school buildings and other school plant facilities, and acquiring necessary land and equipment therefor in order to provide additional school facilities in said County to maintain the six months' school term as required by Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution, and authorizing the levy and collection of a sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the interest on said bonds, and 4,217 votes were case against said order, that a majority of the qualified voters of said County who voted at said election voted against said order, and said order was thereby disapproved.
