On this date, our representative sited the residential construction site located at Lot #112 - Lakeland Port
in the Carolina Lakes develo ent. The purposc of our visit was to observe the excavations for the
extcrior and 'ulterior foundations d to evaluate the suitability of the exposed bearing materials.
Prior to our arrival, the con ctor had excavated the foundations to the planned bearing depth of
approximately 18-inches below he existing grade. The bearing soils within the front 2/3 of the building
footprint consisted of yellowish ed to red mottled clayey sand. The bearing soil within the back 1/3 of the
building pad consisted primarily f light gray to red clay.
The bearing surfaces were obs ed for cleanliness and dryness. The excavations were free from loose
debris and had been mucked of y significant soft / wet soils resultant from recent rains. The consistency
of the bearing soils was eval ted by an engineer from our staff, utilizing a steel probe rod. The
consistency of the soils yielded 'nimal penetration during our evaluation. Based on our observations, it
appears that the exposed bearin soils are suitable for an allowable bearing capacity of 2,000 psf.
