THAT, WHEREAS, more than 77 charitable nonprofit organizations are based
in Harnett County; and
WHEREAS, these organizations spend more than $180,000,000 annually serving
the people of our area; and
WHEREAS, charitable nonprofits fulfill vital functions for North Carolina's social
fabric, public policy, culture, sense of community and future; and
WHEREAS, our state's nonprofit sector is growing faster than business or
government sectors; and
WHEREAS, six percent of all jobs in our state are provided by charitable
nonprofits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE HARNETT
COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS declares the month of November as Non -
Profit Awareness Month in Harnett County and extends its congratulations to charitable
nonprofits serving our community, extending its sincere gratitude to the citizens of
Harnett County whose volunteer spirits make these organizations strong.
