Resolution
Sacred Heart Catholic Church Anniversary
Whereas, Sacred Heart Catholic Church has long served the Harnett County
community; and
Whereas, this history of service can be traced to January of 1904 when the parish
celebrated its first mass; and
Whereas, the church has experienced a litany of milestones throughout the years
including completion of the present church in 1906, construction of the old rectory in 1916,
completion of the education center in 1962 and the construction of the new rectory in the
late seventies; and
Whereas, each of these milestones reflect the church's ongoing commitment to the
spiritual needs of its members as well as its service to the community at large.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved that the Harnett County Board of Commissioners
does hereby recognize and congratulate Sacred Heart Parish on this its 1001h anniversary
and does hereby express its appreciation to the church and its members for their service to
Harnett County and its residents.
