HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING, DECElffiER 14, 1992
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on
Monday, December 14, 1992, in the Library Conference Room, Harnett
County Library, Lillington, North Carolina, with the following memberll
present: Joseph T. Bowden, Walt Titchener, Beatrice Bailey Hill, Dan
B. Andrews, and Chairman H. L. Sorrell, Jr. presiding. Others presen
were Dallas H. Pope, County Manager; Dwight W. Snow, County Attorney;
Vanessa W. Young, Finance Officer; and Kay S. Blanchard, Recording
Secretary.
Chairman Sorrell called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and
Commissioner Bowden offered the invocation.
Dallas H. Pope, County Manager, briefed the group that the purpose of
PURPOSE OF MEETING: the special meeting was to receive briefings on a Solid Waste to
BRIEFINGS ON SOLID WASTE Energy proposal.
TO ENERGY PROPOSAL
C. T. Clayton, P.E. , Project Manager, McKim & Creed Engineers,
consulting firm, presented an overview of the current Harnett County
Solid Waste Program and analysis of solid waste disposal options for
the County.
A presentation concerning a Solid Waste to Energy proposal for Harnett
County, which also involves Bladen, Cumberland and Hoke Counties, was
presented to the Board by George Armistead, President and Alan
McDonald, Vice President, VEDCO Energy Corporation.
VEDCO -After the presentations, a general discussion was conducted concerning
the proposal presented by VEDCO Energy Corporation.
Commissioner Andrews moved that the meeting be adjourned.
Commissioner Bowden seconded the motion and it passed with a unanimous
vote.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, t~e Harnett County Board of II
Commissioners' special meeting, De ember 14, 1992, duly adjourned at
9:15 p.m.
