HomeMy WebLinkAbout12011992 17 HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING, DECEMBER 1, 1992 - I The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday, December 1, 1992, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina, with the following members present: Beatrice Bailey Hill, Walt Titchener, Bill Shaw, and Chairman Lloyd G. Stewart presiding. Commissioner Hudson was absent. Others present were Dallas H. Pope, County Manager, and Kay S. Blanchard, Recording Secretary. Chairman stewart called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and Commissioner Hill offered the invocation. PURPOSE OF MEETING: Dallas H. Pope, County Manager, briefed the group that the purpose of BRIEFINGS ON SOLID the special meeting was to receive briefings on a Solid Waste to WASTE-TO-ENERGY Energy proposal. PROPOSAL A presentation concerning a Solid Waste to Energy proposal for Harnett County, which also involves Bladen, Cumberland and Hoke Counties, was presented to the Board by Alan McDonald, Vice President, VEDCO Energy VEDCO Corporation. C. T. Clayton, Vice President, McKim & Creed Engineers, consulting firm, presented an overview of the current Harnett County Solid Waste Program and analysis of solid waste disposal options for the County. After the presentations, a general discussion was conducted concerning the proposal presented by VEDCO Energy Corporation. Commissior.er Titchener stated that he wanted the record to show that he did not support the "Waste-to-Energy" proposal presented by VEDCO Energy Corporation in any way.
