Box 400, Lillington NC 27546-0400 Phone (910) 893-8743 / Fax (910) 893-3594 www.halowensoil.com Soil Science Investigations  Wetland Delineations, Permitting, and Consulting 21 December 2023 Continental Growth LLC 1250 Western Blvd Suite L2 #106 Jacksonville, NC 28546 Reference: Detailed Soil Investigation Travolina Pines SD (94 Lots) Dear Continental Growth, A soil investigation has been conducted at the above referenced property, located on the northern side of NC Hwy 24-27 in the Johnsonville Township of Harnett County, North Carolina. The purpose of the investigation was to determine the ability of each lot to support a subsurface sewage waste disposal system and repair area for a typical three-bedroom home. It is our understanding that individual septic systems and public water supplies will be utilized at this site. All soil ratings and determinations were made in accordance with "Laws and Rules for Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems, 15A NCAC 18A .1900". This report represents my professional opinion as a Licensed Soil Scientist but does not guarantee or represent permit approval for any lot by the Local Health Department (LHD). A septic permit for all residences will need to be obtained from the LHD that specifies the proposed home size and location, and the design and location of the septic system to be installed. The soils were evaluated under moist soil conditions through the advancing of auger borings. This evaluation included observations of topography and landscape position, soil morphology (texture, structure, clay mineralogy, organics), soil wetness, soil depth, and restrictive horizons. Soils units shown on the attached map represent dominant soil types with similar profiles but may include minor components of contrasting soil types. A significant portion of this site was observed to be underlain by suitable soils for subsurface sewage waste disposal (see Figures 1-3). Soil textures were observed to be friable loamy sands and sandy loams to greater than 36 inches. These soils appear adequate to support long term acceptance rates of 0.6 to 0.8 gal/day/ft2. Some small inclusions of provisionally suitable soils were occasionally observed within this soil unit. The soils indicated as provisionally suitable were observed to be friable sandy clay loams to greater than 31 inches and appear adequate to support long term acceptance rates of 0.4 to 0.6 gal/day/ft2. Included within this mapping unit are some soils that are limited in soil depth to the extent that ultra shallow systems will likely be required. This requirement will necessitate the addition of approximately 6 inches of approved soil to completely cover the system. HAL OWEN & ASSOCIATES, INC. Soil Science Investigations  Wetland Delineations, Permitting, and Consulting The soils indicated as provisionally suitable for low profile chamber systems were observed to be friable sandy loams to greater than 22 inches and appear adequate to support long term acceptance rates of 0.4 to 0.5 gal/day/ft2. These soils are limited in usable soil depth to the extent that low profile chamber systems installed ultra shallow will be required. This requirement will necessitate the addition of approximately 6 inches of approved soil to completely cover the system. It appears that the soils on each lot are adequate to support a conventional or accepted status septic system and repair area for one residence. Most lots appear adequate to support four bedroom homes if so desired. This soil investigation report and map, when provided to the LHD, should allow them to sign the maps for recordation.
