SPECIAL MEETING
MARCH 18, 2025
7:00 P.M.
Present: Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Jim Currin, Members: Betsy
McCormick, Bill McNutt, Lewis Bell and Director Claire Jones and Assistant Director Shannon
Cole

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 7:19 pm.
Business:
Mrs. Jones reminded the board of the reason for the meeting, which was to decide on the splits
and mergers of precincts. A map of the newly proposed precincts was provided to the board for
review (attached).
Mr. Currin moved to approve the proposed changes as shown on the map, which included
splitting Precinct 07 Barbecue and Precinct 01 Anderson Creek, and merging the Lillington
incorporated part of Anderson Creek into Precinct 31 Central Harnett Lillington.
Mrs. McCormick seconded. After discussion, the vote was cast with 3 in favor (Currin,
McCormick, Fenderson) and 2 opposed (Bell, McNutt). The motion passed.
Mrs. Jones informed the board that, according to GS 163-128, when a split or merger occurs, the
names of the new and old precincts must be changed. After some discussion, Mrs. McCormick
moved to approve the naming and precinct numbers for the newly created precincts:
• PCT 33 — Barbecue-Benhaven
• PCT 34 — Barbecue -Spouts Spring
• PCT 35 —Anderson Creek -Flat Branch
• PCT 36 —Anderson Creek-Overhills
Mr. McNutt seconded. Approved without dissent.
Mr. McNutt moved to approve the following voting locations for the new precincts:
• PCT 33 — Barbecue-Benhaven: Western Harnett High School, 10637 NC 27 West,
Lillington
• PCT 34 — Barbecue -Spouts Spring: Highland Elementary School, 1915 Buffalo Lake Rd,
Sanford
• PCT 35 — Anderson Creek -Flat Branch: Anderson Creek Primary, 914 Anderson Creek
School Rd, Bunnlevel
• PCT 36 — Anderson Creek-Overhills: Overhills High School, 2495 Ray Rd, Spring Lake
Mr. Bell seconded. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Bell moved to adjourn. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved
without dissent. The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a regular meeting on April 01, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
