SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 18, 2025
5:00 P.M.
Present: Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Jim Currin, Members: Betsy
McCormick, Bill McNutt, Lewis Bell and Director Claire Jones and Assistant Director Shannon
Cole

Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of
Allegiance.
Business:
Mrs. Jones updated the Board and public of the reason for the special meeting to discuss a
resolution opposing the Harnett County Commissioners Joint Resolution.
Mr. Bell moved to allow the public to speak on the matter of the Joint Resolution and allow
printed materials to be handed in. Each speaker has a limit of 3 minutes and a total of 30 for
public speakers. Mr. Currin Seconded. Approved without dissent.

Mr. Currin moved to stop public comment until the end of the meeting. Mr. Bell second.
Approved without dissent.
Mrs. Jones informed the public of the 2 resolution drafts that was drawn up by Mr. McNutt and
Mrs. McCormick. (attached)
Mr. McNutt read draft 1 of the opposing resolution.
Mrs. McCormick read draft 2 of the opposing resolution.
Mr. McNutt moved to adopt draft 1 of the opposing resolution. Mr. Bell second. After discussion
the votes were cast 2 in favor (McNutt, Bell) 3 opposing (Fenderson, Currin, McCormick).
Motion was not passed.
Mr. Currin moved to adopt draft 2 of the opposing resolution. Mrs. McCormick second. After
discussion the votes were cast 2 in favor (Currin, McCormick) 3 opposing (Fenderson, Bell,
McNutt). Motion was not passed.
Ms. Fenderson moved to reopen the floor to public comment. Mr. Bell second.

Mr. Bell moved for Ms. Fenderson and Mrs. Jones to work together to rewrite the resolution
using the 2 drafts and present at the regular board meeting on March 04, 2025. Mr. McNutt
second. Approved without dissent.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. McNutt moved to adjourn. Mr. Bell seconded.
Approved without dissent. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Board will be a regular meeting on March 04, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
