HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-31-25 - Special Call021 Dunn City Council Special Meeting Monday, March 31, 2025 6:30 p.m., Dunn Municipal Building Minutes PRESENT: Mayor William P. Elmore Jr.,. Mayor Pro Tern J. Wesley Sills, Council Members April Gaulden, Raquel McNeil, Billy N. Tart, Alan Hargis, and Dr. David L. Bradham. Also present: City Manager Steven Neuschafer, Assistant City Manager Billy R Godwin, City Attorney Tilghman Pope and City Clerk Melissa Matti. CALL TO ORDER AND INVOCATION Mayor Elmore opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Council Member Bradham gave the invocation and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Elmore announced that "After months of searching for a City Manager, I along with the board of commissioners are delighted to extend a warm welcome to Justin B. Hembree as our new City Manager. On behalf of the entire team and community, we are thrilled to have him join us and are confident that his expertise, vision and leadership will greatly benefit our city." Mr. Hembree currently serves as Executive Director of the Mid Carolina Regional Council of Governments. The mayor explained that the MCCOG helped lead the search for the next City Manager. "After spending many days and hours with Justin, determining the needs and qualifications for this position, we (the council) began to see that Justin would be a great choice for us. Therefore, we asked him if he would consider the position and fortunately, he accepted." "We are excited to see the positive impact he will have on our community, and we look forward to working closely with him to achieve our share goals." Motion by Council Member Tart and seconded by Council Member Bradham to approve the employment of Justin B. Hembree as the new City Manager effective June 1, 2025 and to adjourn the meeting.
