HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Minutes of Special Meeting (work session)
November 18, 2005
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday,
November 18, 2005, in the conference room, Human Resources Department, County
Administration Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman
Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman
Dan B. Andrews
Walt Titchener
Tim McNeill
Staff: Neil Emory, County Manager
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Chairman Byrd called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. and called on Mr. Emory.
Mr. Emory led a discussion of the following items:
1. Anderson Creek gym issues regarding guidelines for scheduling and who controls
use of gym.
2. The architectural committee and the jail committee will meet to review proposed
plans for the new jail.
3. The former Northern Harnett Rescue building and property will go out for bids
soon.
4. The County has received an offer on the old Harnett Production Enterprise facility.
5. County Rescue budgets
6. Thomas Womble is raising money to build dugouts and other improvements to ball
fields. The County would pay power bills. Mr. Womble, who is a Board of Education
member, will also encourage use of ball fields for other recreation use and not just
school functions.
7. Courthouse security
8. The Board agreed the County should help Campbell University reach its building
fund goal for the proposed Convocation Center.
9. A Board retreat will be scheduled in January.
There being no further business, the work session adjourned.
