Since the time of your application submittal, the County has revised the applicability of the 3-year minor subdivision rule. There is now an avenue to create an additional lot from Ms. Little’s property, however the resulting property would need to be subdivided for your wife since she is considered the immediate family member. Ms. Little would need to certify on the plat that your wife is an immediate family member and that the purpose of the subdivision is for family ownership. All other requirements set forth by the minor subdivision process will apply. To the best of my knowledge (and without a benefit of a survey in to review), I believe that this subdivision would qualify as a family subdivision if these requirements can be met. I understand that his does not necessarily help if you are unable to find a surveyor, but it may remove the additional process of going before the Planning Board. I attached a list of contact information the county has on file for local surveyors. Please be advised that this list is not a recommendation or a complete list of surveyors who can perform work in Harnett County. I hope that you find this information helpful.
