Present were; Board Chairwoman Allison Fenderson, Secretary Jim Currin, Members: Betsy McCormick, Lewis Bell and Bill McNutt Also Present were; Director Claire Jones Also present: See sign in sheet Ms. Fenderson called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance. Public Comment: Rebekah Brock Elizabeth Longman Alan Longman Minutes: The Board reviewed the minutes from July 18, 2023. Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes. Mrs. McCormick seconded. Approved without dissent. Business: Mrs. Jones introduced Assistant County Manager, Mike Morrow. Mrs. Jones gave a couple quick updates, some items discussed were: • Proposed Committee substitute HB772 • Photo ID- NCSBE press release on August 2 • Election workers may be pay rolled through temporary staffing agency • 2023 Election Calendar • SBOE Conference August 13-15 The Board discussed the process of recognizing board members after appointment ends. Mr. Currin moved to get any outgoing Board member a plaque for their service, unless the Board member specifically requests not to have one. Mrs. McCormick seconded. Approved without dissent. With no further business to discuss, Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mr. McNutt seconded. The meeting adjourned at 5:46 pm. The next meeting of the Board will be the Judge Appointment meeting on August 22 at 5:00 pm.
