HomeMy WebLinkAbout092622 smHARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Special Meeting Minutes September 26, 2022 The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in a special session on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 am,in the Training Room 103A of the Harnett County Resource Center and Library, 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington,North Carolina. Members present: Lewis W. Weatherspoon, Chairman Matt B. Nicol, Vice Chairman Mark B. Johnson, Commissioner Barbara McKoy, Commissioner W. Brooks Matthews, Commissioner Staff present: Brent Trout, County Manager Coley Price, Assistant County Manager Dwight Snow, County Attorney Christopher Appel, Senior Staff Attorney Jaime Bell-Raig, Deputy Clerk Speakers present: Josh Stein, Attorney General Mary Jane Sauls, Harnett County Department of Social Services Amy Brown, Daymark Wayne Coats, Harnett County Sheriff Larry T. Smith, Harnett County Emergency Services Tim Adamaszek, Harnett County Department of Social Services Glenn McFadden, Town of Lillington Mayor Jermaine White, Assistant Superintendent, Student Support Services Dr. Robert Agnello, Campbell University Dr. David Tillman, Campbell University Cory Hess, Harnett Health President Suzanne Matthews, Lee-Harnett District Attorney Mark Morris, Director Good Hope Hospital Paul Polinski, Director of Harnett County Department of Social Services Chairman Weatherspoon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am. Commissioner McKoy led the Pledge of Allegiance and provided the invocation. Chairman Weatherspoon made opening remarks and introduced Attorney General, Josh Stein. Attorney General Stein spoke to what his office has been doing to combat the opioid crisis in North Carolina and its assistance in the Opioid Settlement Funding for the multiple counties across North Carolina. Harnett County Board of Commissioners September 26,2022 Special Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 2 Coley Price and Chris Appel spoke on the County's focus on a strategic plan for these settlement funds. The entities represented at the Special Meeting lead into a round table discussion of the opioid crisis, the strategies the represented entities have in place, and the needs of each represented entity. Chairman Weatherspoon called to adjourn the meeting at 11:16 am. A motion to adjourn was entered by Commissioner Johnson and seconded by Commissioner McKoy. The motion carried with a unanimous vote.
